GoodDate.org is a free, non-profit matchmaking platform.

The general idea is that you sign up, answer questions and add preferences, and then the platform uses your answers to find the most compatible matches. We notify you when you have new matches, messages, or likes. You can then like any matches that vibe with you, and if they like you back you can message eachother, build a relationship, and maybe even meet up in real life!

This was the most difficult aspect of this service, and we believe it's better than any existing service provides for a few reasons:

• It's honest and transparent. There are no ulterior motives focussing on engagement.
• It doesn't compare eachothers answers, it compares your answers to their preferences and vise versa.
• It's free, so you can find love without spending a dime.

The algorithm compares your answers to each match's preferences, and their answers to yours, over the questions you've both answered. An answer that fits the other person's preferences earns points based on how important that question is to them, and an answer that doesn't fit loses points. Your match percentage is that score out of the highest possible score for the questions you share, so questions only one of you has answered never lower it.

Next to the percentage is a confidence level, from Very low to Very high, based on how many questions you've both answered. Matches need at least 10 questions in common to show up.

For example, if you say you're a vegan and you're looking for a vegan or vegetarian, the algorithm will find users who are vegan or vegitarian and looking for a vegan. If you mark that as a dealbreaker, then anyone who is not a vegan or vegetarian will not be shown to you. Anyone who would not date a vegan will not be shown to you.
